EPA Awards $2 Million to Environmental Finance Center at UNC

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded $2 million to the Environmental Finance Center (EFC) to improve the nation’s smallest water systems. Housed in UNC’s School of Government, the EFC will team up with the Environmental Finance Center Network and the American Water Works Association to improve water system management. “Small water systems comprise more than 94 percent of the nation’s 157,000 public water systems and struggle much more to meet clean drinking water standards than their larger counterparts,” said Glenn Barnes, senior project director of the UNC EFC.
