Job- NC

Farmer Foodshare is hiring a part-time Donation Station Program Manager.

Donation Station Program Manager - Job Description

Hours: 15-20 hours per week (seasonal variation), flexible hours with most occurring at farmers’ markets on Saturday mornings and Tuesday through Thursday weekday afternoons.

Compensation: $15/hr

Farmer Foodshare is a nonprofit organization that works toward building community food systems through connecting people who need food with people who grow food. The organization has a variety of programs designed to feed people or make it easier for people to feed themselves. Programs include Donation Stations, FreshKids!, Pennies on the Pound (POP) and the Farmer Foodshare Fund.

Donation Stations collect fresh food and funds to buy food at farmers’ markets, and donate the food to agencies that serve malnourished community members. The Donation Station program is Farmer Foodshare’s largest program, with 12 Donation Stations in six NC counties.

The Donation Station program manager position is a leadership position, with opportunity for growth as funding becomes available. The job requires experience and skills in community outreach, systems creation, volunteer leadership, and financial responsibility. Successful candidates will be great communicators, organized self-starters, and passionately committed to building sustainable and just food systems.

Note: One great way to get to know our work is to volunteer. Please contact volunteer@farmerfoodshare.org if you are interested in volunteering.
Duties involved:

- Be responsible for the smooth operation and system development of the Donation Station Program and multi-county network. This includes market oversight and staffing, volunteer recruitment and training, and reporting of total dollars and pounds of produce donated.

- Help set strategic direction for growth of the program and assist in grant writing.

- Be the recognizable "face" of the most visible FFS program—serving as a trusted connection with farmers, market managers, community members, partner organizations, and people who are food insecure.

- Ensure all 10+ Triangle Donation Stations happen successfully each week, including special events, such as the annual Farmer Foodshare Challenge.

- Help volunteers meet program quality standards and abide by the market rules for each market.

- Make sure the systems, paperwork, and processes are standardized and useful for the network.

- Work with client agencies to make sure they are using the food and it is in the amounts and type that they need.

- Report statistics (money donated/spent, volunteers’ hours worked) weekly on FFS GoogleDocs and to FFS Finance Director.

- Manage and hire the volunteer lead coordinators for each market and act as primary daily contact for all lead coordinators.

- Answer the volunteer@farmerfoodshare.org email inbox.

- Manage interns and help train and orient volunteers.

- Help plan volunteer appreciation and recruitment.

- Interface with and support other FFS programs as needed
