North Carolina Senate-Approved Fracking Bill Sent to Gov. Bev Perdue

Fracking, short for “hydraulic fracturing,” is a natural gas extraction process that involves injecting chemical fluids at high velocity into wells to release pockets of natural gas. Environmental groups are concerned that fracking processes could contaminate water supply, contribute to land degradation, and decrease air quality.
