Position for Community Ecology Field Assistant in the arctic
I am looking for a field assistant to participate in a study on the effects of climate change on invertebrate food web dynamics in the arctic tundra. The research will be taking place in the area around Toolik Field Station, which lies in the northern foothills of the Brooks Range, Alaska. Required skills / experience:
Applicants with backgrounds in community ecology, entomology, soil ecology, ecosystem ecology, or other related disciplines are preferred. Applicants must also be in good health, willing to spend long hours outdoors, and prepared to live in a remote field camp where cooperation with others is essential, personal privacy is limited, and living accommodations are simple. Maturity, self-motivation, and a positive attitude are essential. Wilderness or outdoor experience is highly desirable. Candidates should be available to live continuously at the Toolik Field Station for 2 months from the beginning of June until early August. Compensation will include travel and the cost of room and board at the station.
