Position: Director/Chair of General Studies and Allied Health
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Instructional Services, this individual is a key person on the Instructional Services Leadership Team and is responsible for developing curriculum and continuing education classes/programs in the college’s general studies, sciences and allied health areas. This individual hires and supervises individuals in the program areas of Early Childhood Education, Electroneurodiagnostic, Environmental Science Technology/Management, Medical Assisting and Medical Office Administration. In addition, this Chair is responsible for five full time instructors and additional part time adjunct instructors from math, English, humanities, and social sciences to support Associate in Arts and Associate in General Education degree programs. This position is a twelve month position and includes half time teaching responsibilities. The development of distant learning, evening/weekend classes, student recruiting and other duties as required by the Vice President of Instructional Services is expected. This position requires occasional evening and weekend duties.
Qualifications:
Education: Masters Degree in a curriculum area to be supervised (listed in Job Summary above) from a regionally accredited institution. Additional graduate hours within a second discipline taught at the college and Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) are desirable.
Experience: Three to five years of professional teaching experience. A history of supervisory responsibilities and community college employment is desired.
Skills: Leadership and budget experiences are desirable. Knowledge of the NC Community College System is preferred.
Position Available: August 8, 2011
Salary: Minimum of $60,000 with salary determined upon education and applicable experience.
