The city of Clinton, NC seeks a qualified candidate to supervise wastewater lab., serving as ORC for dev. and coord. all compliance reporting with the State of NC on wastewater, and land applications. Administers industrial pretreatment program. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, regulations and methods of laboratory testing and analysis of wastewater, raw, and treated water samples to determine efficiency of treatment.
Position responsibilities include:
- setting up sampling systems to monitor compliance
- communicating with and inspects industrial sites
- performing a variety of chemical, biological, and micro-biological testing
- assisting in selection, promotion, training, counseling and discipline of employees to maximize performance and accountability of staff
- demonstrating strong leadership and organizational skills
- communicating effectively both orally and in writing
- establishing and maintaining effective working relationships w/city officials, management, industries, and general public
- demonstrating use of advanced comp. programs
Required: A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science or related field, and considerable laboratory and/or treatment plant operations experience is preferred.
Special requirements: Possession of a wastewater operator certification, wastewater laboratory certification, land operation certification, pretreatment program certification is given preference.
